Performance EVs reshape luxury and supercar pipeline for 2025–2027
Automakers and publishers point to a wave of high-performance EV launches and concepts, as brands position new products amid charging build-outs and shifting luxury demand.
A growing slate of upcoming high-performance electric vehicles—from grand tourers and sports cars to luxury performance crossovers—is reshaping product plans for premium automakers heading into 2025–2027, according to multiple industry previews and market research published this year. The new pipeline arrives as Europe’s battery-electric vehicle (BEV) market rebounds and public-private charging expansion targets accelerate, factors that analysts say are helping support broader adoption of high-end EVs.
Among the models highlighted in forthcoming-vehicle roundups are the Polestar 5, expected to debut in 2025 as a high-performance grand tourer featuring a lightweight anodized aluminum unibody assembled with heat-cured adhesive bonding, according to U.S. News’ future-vehicle outlook. In the luxury-performance segment, Car and Driver reported that Genesis is preparing the GV60 Magma, described as the first model under a new Magma performance subbrand.
Sports-car makers are also moving key nameplates toward battery-electric power. U.S. News said a Porsche 718 EV is expected in 2026, while Car and Driver reported Audi plans an electric sports car in 2027, previewed by its Concept C, positioned between the TT and R8 in performance and roughly the length of a Porsche 911. Road & Track, meanwhile, pointed to Jaguar’s Type 00 concept as a signal of the brand’s broader reinvention, with the concept described as a glimpse at a future high-performance electric GT.
Financial performance and corporate strategy are also converging around the shift. A Quartz post summarizing Ferrari’s latest results said the automaker beat earnings estimates, posted €1.85 billion in revenue, and confirmed its first EV launch is approaching. Separately, Yacht Style reported that Ferrari announced an inaugural pure-electric performance model called the Luce, described as slated for a May 2026 launch.
Market conditions and infrastructure policy are a key part of the backdrop for these product moves. Mordor Intelligence’s report on the automotive high-performance EV market said Europe rebounded with around 30% BEV sales growth in Q1 2025 after a 2024 plateau, supported by joint public-private funding targeting one million public charge points by 2030. The firm also cited gains in Germany and the U.K., attributing momentum to mechanisms such as residual-value guarantees and technology links to Formula E.
The anticipated model cadence is broadening beyond a few halo vehicles into a more continuous pipeline of premium launches. Roman’s International’s “most anticipated cars of 2025” roundup and Motor1’s list of future supercars and sports cars both point to continued investment in top-end performance, with Motor1 noting many future entries are expected to exceed four-digit horsepower figures and 200-mph-plus capability.
Even outside the dedicated sports-car segment, established luxury OEMs continue to refresh high-margin lines with new technology packages as they balance internal-combustion and electrified strategies. Consumer Reports said the Mercedes-Benz GLE is slated for a 2027 refresh that includes an updated engine lineup and a dashboard spanning three 12.3-inch screens as standard.
